KPFK host declares solidarity with Morning Show staff

No Morning Show today on KPFA – instead piped in programming from Pacifica station KPFK in Los Angeles. One of those programs, Uprising! hosted by Sonali Kolhatkar included a segment with Morning Show host Brian Edwards-Tiekert. Kolhatkar is among hundreds of supporters of KPFA’s workers who have sent letters of solidarity, a list which also includes staff from Democracy Now!

Pacifica’s removal of the Morning Show is already affecting the audience (see graph at right). Meanwhile, KQED’s Forum aired a program this morning on the KPFA layoffs with Larry Bensky, former Pacifica national affairs correspondent and Pacifica director Arlene Engelhardt. There is also a new set of photos by Fletcher Oakes from last week’s rally, and a video of yesterday’s protest by KPFA reporter Judith Scherr.

Thank you for turning out yesterday, and for all your calls and letters. Let’s keep the pressure on! You can write Pacifica executive director here, or call her at (510) 849-2590, ext 208 and cell (510) 402-9880. Stay tuned for more by joining our email list.
